Description
Château Branaire-Ducru owes the first part of its name to its founder Jean-Baptiste Braneyre, who founded the château in 1680, while the second part derives from Gustave Ducru, who added his surname in 1875. Château Branaire-Ducru has changed over the centuries many owners, up to Patrick Maroteaux, who from the 80s began to make substantial qualitative changes to the cellar. Since 2000 Branaire-Ducru has become one of the best wines of Bordeaux.
After the harvest and manual selection, the grapes are vinified at a controlled temperature in 28 steel vats of different sizes, from 30 to 210 hl. Each vat is used specifically for the optimal vinification of a parcel of vineyard. Maceration on the skins is approx. 21 days and fermentation takes place in steel vats. The wine obtained and expertly assembled is aged for 16-20 months in French oak barriques, new from 60 to 65%, depending on the vintage.
In the chalice the glass is a deep purple red. The nose reveals aromas of cassis, blueberries and blackberries, with delicate smoky notes of tobacco. The sip is juicy, with a cleverly integrated acidity and a long finish.
Ideal in combination with roasted, stewed or grilled meats, both white and red. Also try it in the company of particularly tasty fish, for example with tuna.
