Description
Both for its classical architecture and its large gardens, Château Beychevelle is called the Versailles of Bordeaux. Since 1400 the château has changed a myriad of owners and today belongs to Japanese and French companies. The vineyards are fragmented into over 60 different plots and therefore dispersed in various parts of the St. Julien appellation.
According to the Bordeaux practice, the different plots are vinified in 59 steel vats from 73 to 160 hl. The malolactic fermentation takes place both in steel vats and in wooden barrels. Aging takes place in 50% new French oak barriques for about 18 months, followed by bottling.
In the glass the wine appears of an intense ruby red color. The nose opens on fruity aromas of cherries, raspberries and ripe blueberries, with slight herbaceous and balsamic notes of lavender and star anise. The sip is concentrated and harmonious, with an intense aromatic profile and a long finish.
The Chateau Beychevelle Saint-Julien 4ème Cru Classé goes very well with all types of meat, both roasted, grilled, and stewed, from red meats to white meats, from game to noble poultry.
