Description
Château Lagrange began to be known for its wines from the mid-nineteenth century, when their quality increased substantially thanks to the introduction of drainage in the vineyards, an idea that was very modern and still not widespread at the time. Today 118 hectares of vineyards belong to the château, divided into 102 different parcels.
After the harvest, which takes place between mid-September and mid-October, the grapes are vinified, which takes place in steel vats of different sizes, each used to vinify different plots. The wine is then assembled and then aged in oak barrels (60% new wood) for about 21 months.
In the glass the wine appears of an intense purple red color. The nose opens on aromas of cooked plums and cassis, cedar peel and graphite. On the palate the wine is warm, full-bodied, with fragrant tannins and a long mineral note.
Chateau Lagrange Saint-Julien 3ème Cru Classé goes very well with roasts and braised meats, grilled and stewed meats.
