Description

The Château Léoville Poyferré, whose history dates back to 1600, is today managed by the Cuvelier family. It was Didier Cuvelier who, starting from 1979, initiated a series of measures (for example the replanting of many hectares of vineyards) which have made the Château one of the most interesting in Bordeaux. Today the company is under the leadership of its descendants Sara Lecompte Cuvelier and Anne Cuvelier.

The fermentation of the must takes place in the 56 stainless steel vats which, as is customary in Bordeaux, takes place parcel by parcel. The malolactic fermentation takes place instead in wooden barrels, at the end of which the assembled wine is aged for about 18 months in French oak barrels (on average 75% of new wood).

In the glass there is a beautiful ruby red color. On the nose the wine opens on notes of black currant and blackberries, spices and liqueurice. The sip is intense, fresh and with silky tannins, with a long and satisfying finish.

Ideal in combination with roasted pheasant with potatoes.
