Description
Les Pagodes de Cos is the second wine of Château Cos d'Estournel, a Grand Cru Classé from 1855. The vines from which it comes, once they reach the right age, are destined for the production of the first wine: they grow on the same terroir and receive the same treatments. The difference lies in the age of the vines, younger, around 40 years old, with roots that have not yet reached full depth in the gravelly soil.
The vinification of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot grapes is traditional, in steel vats, with a maceration of about a week. The refinement and maturation take place for 12 months in new barriques.
The wine stands out for its ruby red color. On the nose you can appreciate pronounced notes of blueberry, redcurrant and strawberry, accompanied by smoky and chocolate aromas, with a touch of cinnamon which gives a certain complexity. The result is a round, elegant, vibrant, silky, seductive and extremely pleasant wine.
It goes beautifully with all types of meat: beef, lamb or game. It is also ideal with tasty cheeses and mushroom dishes.
