Description
The foundation of Château Lafon-Rochet dates back to 1600 and, according to the Bordeaux tradition, bears the name of the first two owner families. Today it belongs to Jacky Lorenzetti, already owner of other château in the area.
The refurbishment of the 35-year-old cellar, which was completed in 2015, served to ensure better quality of the wines and modern winemaking. It takes place in steel and concrete containers, parcel by parcel, and then the malolactic fermentation continues both in 50% new wooden barrels and in steel vats. The wine is subsequently aged in 55% new French oak barrels for about 9 months, and then continues the last part of the ageing for another 9 months in 12-month barrels.
Of a deep purple red colour, the nose reveals subtle aromas of cassis and ripe cherries in addition to herbaceous and graphite notes. In the mouth, the wine is dry, structured, with smooth tannins. It ends with a persistent herbaceous note.
Ideal in combination with lasagna with meat sauce, roasts and grilled meats.
