Description

Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 1er Grand Cru Classé A is produced by Château Cheval Blanc, whose foundation dates back to 1832, when the Ducasse family bought the land from Château Figeac. In 1998 Château Cheval Blanc was bought by Bernard Arnault and Baron Albert Frere for approx. 135 million euros. In 2011 the new winery built by the famous architect Christian de Portzamparc was inaugurated. Today the Château manages 39 hectares of vineyards, from which some of the most famous and expensive Bordeaux wines in the world come from.

The wine is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, harvested and selected entirely by hand and vinified in 67 temperature-controlled vats. The wine ages for 18 months in new French oak barriques.

Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 1er Grand Cru Classé A shows a deep ruby red color. The nose opens with elegant hints of red and black currant, cedar peel and ripe plum, enriched by persuasive smoky notes. On the palate it is decisive and of great structure, with fine and elegant tannins, capable of expressing an out-of-the-ordinary refinement.

It goes well with red meats with important cooking and with roasted larded noble poultry.
