Description
Rosso di Torgiano Rubesco di Lungarotti comes from vineyards located in Torgiano, in the heart of Umbria. The wine takes its name from the Latin verb rubescare, redden, thus giving the wine a joyful meaning.
It is produced 90% with Sangiovese grapes and 10% with Colorino grapes, harvested during the month of September. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, with maceration on the skins, for about 15 days. Subsequently the wine ages in cask for 12 months, and for further 12 months in bottle.
It is characterized by a deep ruby red color. The nose opens with an intense and elegant bouquet, with spicy aromas of pepper, cinnamon and tobacco, enriched with pleasant shades of violet. On the palate it has a fresh acidity and a solid structure. The wine has austere tannins and a pleasantly balanced finish.
Perfect to accompany first courses and risotto, it is ideal in combination with grilled red meats, white meats, roasts and aged cheeses.
