Description
Rosso di Montepulciano is produced by the De' Ricci winery and takes its name from a historic family of Montepulciano of medieval origins. The historic and charming winery is located in the Ricci palace in the centre of Montepulciano and is now owned by the Trabalzini family. The wine is born on vineyards located in the hills at Podere La Croce (300 meters above sea level) on the east side of Montepulciano.
The wine is produced from Sangiovese grapes with a small addition of Merlot, which are partially pressed, to then be vinified in steel vats at a controlled temperature with a maceration on the skins that lasts a maximum of 15 days. Ageing of the wine takes place in tonneaux for approx. 6 months, and then continue for at least 6 months in the bottle.
Lively ruby red in colour, the nose reveals aromas of violets, fragrant cherries, with light spicy notes. The sip is dry and savoury, with rightly perceptible tannins.
Ideal in combination with rich land appetizers and stewed and grilled red meats.
