Description
Pure Sangiovese Grosso comes to life from vineyards located on the hill overlooking the hamlet of Sant'Angelo in Colle, south of Montalcino, on the side overlooking the Amiata massif. The vines enjoy a southern exposure, which guarantees perfect ripening of the grapes and are arranged in natural terraces protected from the sirocco and north winds from the Poggio dell'Arna and Poggio Civitella.
The harvest, strictly manual, takes place in the first days of October and is preceded by green pruning and mechanical working of the soil. The maceration lasts about twenty days, with the use of indigenous yeasts of the same grapes, while for the maturation this Red spends a period of 18 months in French oak barrels and, a small part, 12 months in barrique.
An intense ruby red colour makes it a wine almost to be eaten with the eyes, while a vinous aroma with hints of violets and tobacco designs a taste with a robust profile and a dry and harmonious flavour. The aftertaste is persistent and invites to a second taste that will turn out to be pleasantly bitter.
A charismatic wine that admirably marries all the first courses of Italian cuisine, especially if elaborated and based on meat sauce, as well as important roast meats.
