Description
Romanée-Saint Vivant is the name of one of the most famous Grand Cru vineyards in the world, located in the lower part of the Côte d'Or escarpment, in the village of Vosne-Romanée. A predominantly clayey climat on a calcareous base covered with brown earth, from which an unusually delicate Pinot Noir originates which fascinates the admirers of Burgundy wines.
Medium intense ruby red in the glass, it attracts the nose with persuasive aromas of well-ripened red and black fruits, floral touches and notes of sweet spices. In the mouth it manifests itself in all its femininity, fine and elegant, with silky tannins that close with a slight final "scratch". A wine that expresses grace and power, not noticeable in the first sips because of the perfect balance but which is revealed little by little in the following ones: the "great seductress".
Try it with a roast quail with foie gras.
The name Saint-Vivant derives from the monastic order that originally owned it. The vineyard is divided between several producers including the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, however, despite the domaine having part of it in ownership since 1988, it was monopolies of the Marey-Monge family whose name is still kept on the label.
