Description
Marqués de Vargas Reserva is a still red wine from Rioja, Spain, made from Tempranillo, Garnacha and Mazuelo grapes. The vineyards are grown on soils characterized by calcareous gravel elements and stratified molasse soils, contributing to the complexity and structure of this wine.
The vinification involves fermentation in stainless steel tanks for 11 days at a controlled temperature of 30°C, followed by maceration with daily pumping over for 14 days to obtain the right extraction of tannins and fruity aromas. After partial malolactic fermentation in oak barrels, the wine is aged for a total of 23 months, without any clarification or filtration, to best preserve its natural characteristics.
It has an intense ruby red color. The nose expresses complex aromas of ripe red fruit, such as cherry and blackberry, with elegant spicy notes and hints of vanilla and tobacco. On the palate it is balanced and structured, with fine tannins and a good freshness that accompanies a long and persistent finish.
It pairs perfectly with grilled red meats, game and mature cheeses.
