Description
Imperial Reserva is a red wine produced in the Rioja region, using mainly Tempranillo grapes with a small percentage of Graciano, Mazuelo and Garnacha. The grapes come from owned vineyards in Villalba, Briones and Torremontalbo, grown on clay-limestone soils and with manual viticultural management. The vines, over 40 years old, are bush trained and mainly oriented towards the south.
The harvest is manual and the grapes are collected in 300 kg boxes. After refrigeration, the grapes undergo a second selection to guarantee only the best quality. Fermentation takes place in oak vats of different capacities, using native yeasts. Maceration lasts about 20 days, followed by malolactic fermentation in cement and oak. The wine is aged for 24 months in American (30%) and French (70%) oak barrels, followed by further refinement in the bottle for at least 12 months.
The wine has an intense garnet color. On the nose it offers a good aromatic complexity, with notes of berries, licorice, spices, balsamic and smoke. On the palate it is soft, with elegant tannins that give it personality. The finish is fresh, with a complex, long and fruity aftertaste.
This wine pairs well with red meats, stews, cheeses or simply on its own.
