Description
This Gran Reserva wine from Remírez de Ganuza is a refined expression of the Rioja, Spain, made primarily from Tempranillo grapes, with a small contribution of Graciano and a minimal presence of Viura and Malvasía skins. The grapes come from vineyards located on the slopes of the Sierra Cantabria, with an average age of 60 years, grown in ideal conditions to ensure the highest quality of the fruit.
The winemaking process begins with a manual harvest in crates, followed by a rigorous selection of the grapes in the cellar. The grapes are then cooled for 24 hours at 4-6ºC before fermentation, which takes place in small stainless steel tanks and French oak vats. Malolactic fermentation takes place in barriques, where the wine is then aged for 38 months in new French and American oak barrels.
It has an intense garnet red color, while on the nose it offers complex aromas of ripe fruit, sweet spices, tobacco and hints of toasted wood. On the palate it is structured and harmonious, with silky tannins and a long and persistent finish that reflects its long maturation in the barrel.
Perfect to pair with red meat dishes, game or mature cheeses.
