Description
Monopole Clásico Gran Reserva is a white wine produced in the Rioja Alta region, using Viura grapes from the estate's vineyards located in Villalba, at the foot of the Obarenes mountains. The vines are grown on well-draining sandy soils and are subject to constant but mild water stress, leading to low yields of loose bunches with small, concentrated berries.
The grapes are harvested manually into boxes and refrigerated for 24 hours to preserve the aromas. The yield of the vineyard is very low, and the must is delicately pressed in a small hydraulic press and fermented in used 400-litre barriques and 500-litre barrels. The wine is aged for five years in three old Riojan barrels and two old Sanlúcar barrels, without clarification, allowing the long barrel aging to naturally stabilize and clean the wine.
The wine presents great complexity, with refined aromas and a well-defined structure. On the palate it is balanced, with good acidity and notable persistence, offering a pleasant tasting experience thanks to the quality of the raw materials and the traditional winemaking process.
This wine is perfect to pair with Mediterranean dishes.
