Description
El Escolladero is a red wine produced by Bodegas y Viñedos Artuke in La Rioja, Spain, made from a blend of Tempranillo and Graciano grapes. Coming from vineyards located in the municipality of Ábalos, at an altitude of 660 meters, this wine represents an authentic interpretation of the local terroir, characterized by clay-limestone soils and vines over 60 years old.
The grapes are harvested by hand in small crates, selected and destemmed manually. They are then transferred by gravity into micro-tanks, where daily punching down and pressing take place. After spontaneous alcoholic fermentation with native yeasts, the wine goes through malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels and is aged for a period of between 12 and 16 months, to achieve a perfect balance between power and refinement.
On the nose it presents intense aromas of ripe black fruit, enriched by notes of licorice. On the palate it is concentrated and robust, with abundant tannins. The finish is tasty and persistent, revealing a wine of great character and depth that retains a marked elegance.
Perfect when paired with mushrooms, red meats, game and white meats.
