Description
Blanco Reserva by Remírez de Ganuza is a Spanish white wine produced in the Rioja Alavesa region. The varieties used to make it include Viura, Malvasía, Garnacha Blanca and other native grapes of the area. The grapes come from vineyards with an average age of 60 years, located in different towns of the Sierra Cantabria, such as Labastida, San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Samaniego.
The harvest is done manually in crates, with a careful selection of the bunches. Before fermentation, the grapes are cooled for 24 hours at a temperature of 4-6°C in special refrigerated rooms. The free-run must, obtained without pressing from a rotor tank, ferments in new French oak barrels and ages on its lees for about 8 months. The work on the lees is done through the rotation of the barrels, a system developed by the winery that replaces the traditional bâtonnage.
In the glass it has a bright yellow color with greenish reflections. On the nose it offers complex aromas of tropical fruit, citrus and delicate toasted notes. On the palate it is fresh and unctuous, with good acidity and a long and persistent finish.
It pairs perfectly with fish dishes, shellfish and spicy dishes.
