Description
Cune Gran Reserva is a red wine produced in the Rioja Alta region, using mainly Tempranillo grapes with a small percentage of Graciano and Mazuelo. The grapes come from vineyards owned by approximately 70 hectares, located in Torremontalbo, with vines of approximately 45 years of average age, trained as bushes and oriented mainly to the south and east on clay and stony soils.
The harvest is manual and the grapes are collected in 300 kg boxes, followed by careful monitoring of maturation. After harvesting, the grapes are refrigerated for 24 hours to avoid oxidation and preserve the aromas. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in small stainless steel and concrete tanks with indigenous yeasts, followed by a 24-hour cold maceration. After fermentation, the wine macerates further with the skins before being decanted. The malolactic fermentation takes place in cement and the refinement in American and French oak barrels for 24 months, with further refinement in the bottle for at least three years in the cellars.
The wine has a garnet color. On the nose there is a balance between ripe black fruit and aromas derived from barrel aging, such as vanilla, toffee and tobacco leaves. On the palate it is soft and gentle, with a long persistence of balsamic and fruity notes. It is a round wine with pleasant tannins which make it versatile in pairings thanks to its balance.
This wine is recommended with all Mediterranean dishes.
