Description
Contino Viña del Olivo is a red wine produced in the Rioja region, using mainly Tempranillo grapes with a small percentage of Graciano. The grapes come from our proprietary vineyards located around the ancient olive tree that gives its name to this wine, grown on clay-limestone soils with manual viticultural management.
The harvest is manual and the grapes are collected in 300 kg boxes. After refrigeration to preserve the aromas, the grapes undergo a second optical selection to guarantee only the best quality. Fermentation takes place in small stainless steel and concrete tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation in barriques. The wine is aged for 18 months in French and American oak barriques.
The wine has an intense ruby red color. On the nose it offers a complex bouquet with notes of ripe black fruit, spices and a light hint of vanilla and toasting from barrel aging. On the palate it is structured and harmonious, with well-integrated tannins and a long and persistent finish.
This wine is ideal to pair with red meats, game and mature cheeses.
