Description
Contino Reserva is a red wine produced in the Rioja Alavesa region, using mainly Tempranillo grapes with a small percentage of Mazuelo, Graciano and Garnacha. The grapes come from the best "microplots" of the estate, grown on soils with different characteristics that contribute to the complexity of the wine.
The grapes are harvested by hand in 300kg pallets and refrigerated for 24 hours at 12ºC. The next day, the grapes are selected via an optical sorting table. Fermentation takes place in small stainless steel and concrete tanks, allowing each microplot to be treated separately. The wine is aged for 18 months in 225 liter oak barrels, of which 95% French and 5% American.
The wine presents notes of black fruit well balanced with the expression of the oak. On the palate it is fluid and silky, with great personality and reserve character.
This wine is ideal to pair with red meats, game and mature cheeses.
