Description
Contino Gran Reserva is a red wine produced in the Rioja region, using mainly Tempranillo grapes with a small percentage of Graciano, Mazuelo and Garnacha. The grapes come from vineyards located in the surrounding areas, cultivated on clay-limestone soils with manual viticultural management.
The harvest is manual and the grapes are collected in 300 kg boxes, followed by alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. After fermentation, the wine is aged in French and American oak barrels for 24 months, followed by further bottle aging for at least three years in the cellars.
The wine has a garnet color with reddish reflections. On the nose there is a balance between ripe black fruit and aromas derived from barrel aging, such as vanilla, toffee and tobacco leaves. On the palate it is soft and gentle, with a long persistence of balsamic and fruity notes. It is a round wine with pleasant tannins which make it versatile in pairings thanks to its balance.
This wine is recommended with red meats and tasty first courses.
