Description
Barón de Ley's Rioja Gran Reserva embodies the essence of Rioja's elegance, complexity and grace. Produced only in the best years, it is obtained from a blend of Tempranillo and Graciano grapes, coming from ancient vineyards located in Cenicero, in Rioja Alta, where the combination of the Mediterranean climate with clear Atlantic influence and low-yielding vines are ideal for produce elegant wines capable of sustaining long periods of refinement.
The vinification of this Gran Reserva begins with the manual harvesting of the grapes and the selection of the bunches. Maturation takes place for at least 24 months in American and French oak barrels, followed by a further 36 months of refinement in the bottle.
Visually, it shows a beautiful ruby red of medium intensity and slight garnet nuances. The aroma is intense, based on red fruits, joined by successive hints of lavender, ginger and saffron. On the palate it is round and balanced, with silky tannins and a toasted and persistent aftertaste with hints of dried fruit.
It goes well with lamb ribs but also with a platter of cheeses or Iberian hams.
