Description
The Rioja Finca Monasterio by Barón de Ley is a "Super Blend" that expresses concentration and Mediterranean soul, the result of the union of Tempranillo and other varieties. The grapes are grown on the estate surrounding the Benedictine Monastery, planted in 1985. The Mediterranean climate, low-yielding vines and gravelly limestone soils provide an extraordinary combination that gives structure and complexity to the final wine.
The proximity of the vineyard to the cellar allows for particular care of the grapes, destined for the production of Barón de Ley's most iconic wine. After a careful selection and vinification of the best grapes, the wine is subjected to maturation for 18 months in new French oak barrels and subsequently for another 6 months in larger French oak barrels in the Monastery cellar, legacy of the Benedictine Order . This methodology, thanks to the size of the containers, a factor that reduces the contact of the wine with the wood, allows for longer maturation, helping to round out the tannins and giving greater complexity and fruit in the tasting phase.
Visually it stands out for its dark and brilliant ruby red color with purple highlights. The aroma is composed of hints of black berries, licorice and balsamic wood. The palate is intense and structured but at the same time pleasantly fresh.
It is the ideal companion for beef steaks, stews and game dishes.
