Description
The Primitivo di Manduria Riserva Piano Chiuso 26 27 63 by Masca del Tacco is produced in Puglia from old sapling vines enclosed by dry stone walls, as the Cistercian monks used to do. It is therefore a closed vineyard, from which the name of the wine also derives.
The vinification takes place at a controlled temperature with prolonged contact times of the must on the skins, followed by a maturation period of at least 9 months in large barrels and an aging of about 6 months in the bottle.
In the glass the wine appears of an intense ruby red with hints of garnet. On the nose there are sensations of wild blackberry, fruit in alcohol, dark spices and balsamic notes. The sip is powerful and elegant, outlined by fine tannins and a long persistence.
Ideally paired with succulent dishes of red meat and game or with pasta, even stuffed, with meat and mushroom sauce.
