Description
Primitivo Manduria Riserva is one of the wines that best embodies the goal of enhancing the Salento land of Masseria Ficarigna, whose name is inspired by one of the symbolic fruits of the region, namely the prickly pear, originally from Mexico. The snake depicted on the label recalls an ancient Aztec legend according to which nomads from the north used to interrupt their journey when they encountered a prickly pear plant that rose from the cleft of a rock with an eagle feeding on a snake on top.
It is a 100% Primitivo wine, produced from grapes harvested by hand in the Manduria area. After a soft pressing of the grapes, fermentation is carried out at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. It is then aged for 12 months in oak barriques.
In the glass it shows a ruby red color with intense garnet reflections. The nose opens on aromas of ripe red fruit and plum jam, to which are added clear spicy hints of vanilla and balsamic. The sip is dry, warm and soft, with a pleasantly toasted finish.
At the table it finds the best combinations with stewed meats, grilled red meats and game.
