Description
Joseph Drouhin’s Pommard is a refined red wine produced in the famous Burgundy region, located south of Beaune. Made exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes, this wine comes from one of the oldest vineyards in the Côte de Beaune. The clay-limestone soils of Pommard, combined with the favorable climate, give this wine a solid structure and a unique aromatic depth.
The winemaking follows a traditional and careful process that begins with a manual harvest of the grapes, followed by a careful selection of the bunches. After a complete destemming, the grapes ferment and macerate for 2-3 weeks in small open tanks, with the use of indigenous yeasts to enhance the natural characteristics of the terroir. The wine is then aged for a period that varies from 12 to 16 months in French oak barrels.
It stands out for its intense and bright red color. On the nose it reveals a powerful bouquet of black cherry and spices, which evolve into more complex notes of leather. On the palate the tannins give a certain firmness that softens thanks to a harmonious and silky structure, offering a long aromatic persistence.
This red wine pairs perfectly with roast or stewed red meat dishes.
