Description
Olivier Leflaive's Pommard 1er Cru Pezerolles is a distinct expression of Burgundy that originates in the northern part of Pommard, near Beaune. The vineyards are characterized by a south-east exposure, guaranteeing early and optimal ripening of the Pinot Noir bunches.
The winemaking follows traditional methods with particular attention to quality. The harvest is entirely manual, with a rigorous selection of the bunches upon their arrival in the cellar to ensure that only the healthiest and ripest grapes are used. After an alcoholic fermentation of 18 days, the wine ages for 17 months in partially new oak barrels.
On the nose, the wine reveals complex notes of ripe red fruits, delicate spices and a woody touch. On the palate, it stands out for its balanced structure, silky tannins and a remarkably persistent finish.
It lends itself beautifully to pairing with rich dishes such as red meats, game and mature cheeses.
