Description
The Pommard 1er Cru Clos des Epeneaux by Comte Armande was born in one of the largest monopoly parcels of the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits, strategically located between the Grands and Petits Epeneaux, with a distinctive soil composition that significantly differentiates it from the adjacent parcels . The microclimate contributes to obtaining a wine with unique power and refinement, enhancing the expressiveness of Pinot Noir with a spicy note characteristic of this exceptional wine-growing area.
The grape harvest is manual, with a meticulous selection of the best bunches. The grapes are completely destemmed and vinified whole. After a pre-fermentative maceration at low temperature, spontaneous fermentation begins which lasts for 5-10 days, and then leaves room for a further maceration phase in contact with the skins which varies from 3 to 15 days depending on the vintage. The wine then matures for 22 months in partially new oak barrels.
Deep ruby red in color, it opens on the nose with an intense bouquet of fruity notes reminiscent of raspberry and cherry, accompanied by hints of peony and toasting. On the palate it is a concentrated, medium-bodied wine, with well-integrated tannins and a long, savory finish.
Perfect to pair with game dishes or red meats in general.
