Description
This red wine from the Selvapiana winery was born in the vineyards of the Villa di Petrognano and from the collaboration between the countess Cecilia Galeotti Otteri and Francesco Giuntini. It is a Tuscan wine that comes from the hills of the municipality of Rùfina (Florence), within the DOC Pomino, an area of rare beauty at the foot of the Apennines on the border between Tuscany and Emilia Romagna, as well as one of the 4 production areas delimited by the famous announcement of 1716 by Cosimo III De 'Medici.
The wine is a blend of different grapes (Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Nero, Merlot) which are harvested in different periods, between the end of August and October. The vinification takes place in steel at a controlled temperature of 28 ° C, where the must ferments spontaneously with indigenous yeasts. During the maceration of approx. 25 days frequent pumping over is carried out. Refinement in 25 hl French oak barrels follows. for Sangiovese, in French oak barriques for the other vines.
In the glass, the red Pomino appears ruby in color. The nose reveals aromas of berries, currants, violets and sweet spices. In the mouth it is fresh and savory, with a pleasant spicy finish.
The red Pomino di Selvapiana goes well with dishes based on red meat and game.
