Description
This prestigious red wine from Château Clos l'Eglise comes from the Pomerol plateau, a wine-growing region in Bordeaux. The cellar, dating back to the 18th century, was purchased in the 1920s by Savinien Giraud, former owner of Château Trotenoy. Since 1987 it has belonged to Sylviane Garcin-Cathiard.
The wine is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, whose grapes have been vinified since 2012 in thermo-controlled steel vats instead of wood. The malolactic fermentation takes place in wooden barrels. The wine then ages in French oak barrels for 18-24 months.
Deep ruby red in color with garnet hues, it reveals a broad and complex nose. The bouquet consists of aromas of red and black fruits, such as plums, cherries and currants, as well as notes of smoke, licorice, coffee and cocoa. The sip is rich, opulent and long lasting.
It goes very well with important roast beef or lamb.
