Description
Château Smith Haut Lafitte is a prestigious estate located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation, in Bordeaux. Founded in the 18th century and significantly renovated by the Cathiard family following their acquisition in 1990, the estate is renowned for producing high-quality red and white wines. Château Smith Haut Lafitte is considered one of the leading producers in the Pessac-Léognan region, representing oenological excellence with an established international reputation.
Made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes, with small additions of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdo, fermented whole in small wooden tanks at a controlled temperature of 28°C. The wine matures for 18 months in mostly new and self-produced barrels.
It has an intense and deep ruby red color. On the nose it expresses notes of raspberry and strawberry, supported by aromas of blackberry, liquorice and tobacco leaves. On the palate it is fresh and complex, well structured, with silky tannins that lead to a long and persistent finish.
It is the ideal accompaniment for roasts and red meats in general. Try it with a beef fillet.
