Description
Château Haut-Brion Premier Grand Cru Classé was born in vineyards located in the heart of the AOC Pessac-Léognan. It was one of the first four premier crus to be included in the Official Classification of Bordeaux Wines of 1855, the only one coming from the Graves area. This classification system was wanted by the Emperor Napoleon III on the occasion of the Universal Exposition of Paris, in order to make the best Bordeaux wines more recognizable even outside the borders of France. The wines were ordered from the first to the fifth cru based on the reputation of the cellar and the price, which at the time was a factor directly related to quality. Together with the other premier cru Grand Classé it is considered a legend that made the history of wine.
It is produced with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes, carefully picked and selected by hand. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. Subsequently the wine ages for 24 months in new French oak barrels, before being bottled.
Château Haut-Brion is characterized by a deep ruby red color. The nose opens with elegant hints of raspberry, cherry, black fruits and plum jam, which leave room for notes of aromatic herbs and graphite. On the palate it is rich and austere, with pleasant intensity, complexity and persistence.
Wine for special occasions, Château Haut-Brion is perfect to accompany red meats, important first courses, noble poultry and aged cheeses.
