The Kwak of Bosteels
Kwak is one of the most famous beers from the Belgian Bosteels brewery, which takes its name from the family to which it has belonged for more than 200 years. The brewery is located in Buggenhout, East Flanders. Pauwel Kwak was a master brewer and owner of the De Hoorn inn in Dendermonde. Here, to meet the postmen who could not leave the carriage to have a beer, Kwak invented the now iconic "carriage" glass.
How is the Kwak made?
This top-fermented beer is a beautifully successful blend of malt and hops.
Sight, nose, eye and palate
With an intense amber color, the nose reveals aromas of spices, dried orange peel and a light note of banana. The taste is soft and reminiscent of creme caramel, banana and orange marmalade, with spicy notes and a slightly bitter finish.
What do you combine the Kwak with?
Excellent in combination with creamy cheeses, Prague ham or a stew of beef and smoked bacon.
