Description

Château Mouton Rothschild was officially born in 1853, but it was Baron Philippe Rothschild who gave a radical change to the cellar in the early 1900s. In 2 years the baron was the proponent of a series of initiatives, some of which were almost revolutionary for the time in the Bordeaux area. For example, he wanted all his wine to be bottled in his own cellar, so as to allow the control of all the wine sold by the Château. The baron was also one of the first winery owners to commission the design of a label to an artist, the now widespread practice that combines wine with art and design. The 2015 label was created by the German painter Gerhard Richter.

The vines of the Château have an average age of 50 years, but some plots have vines planted more than 130 years ago. Château Mouton Rothschild 2015 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (82%), Merlot (16%) and Cabernet Franc (2%). The must is vinified in 64 wooden barrels of 225 hl at a controlled temperature. Subsequently the wine is aged in new French oak barrels for 19 to 22 months.

In the glass it has a ruby red color with purple hues. The olfactory profile is characterized by aromas of berries, plum, toasted notes and dark hints of sandalwood, cinnamon. In the mouth it is broad, fresh and savory, opulent with a long finish.

It can be combined with grilled meats, roasts and game. It is advisable to decant the wine for at least 2 hours, before serving it.
