Description
The Doppiozeta Zisola by Mazzei was born in the homonymous estate, located in south-eastern Sicily, in an area with a strong wine-growing vocation, which gave rise to the Nero d'Avola grape. Top wine of the Sicilian estate, it takes the name of Doppiozeta in reference to the heart of the name Mazzei.
Produced from 100% Nero d'Avola grapes, harvested and selected from the beginning of September. After a fermentation in steel vats without the addition of yeasts or temperature control, at a controlled temperature between 28-30 °C, the maceration phase begins, lasting about 30 days. The ageing of the wine continues for 16 months in tonneaux (50% new) and ends with over 4 months of rest in concrete vats. Following bottling, this wine continues its ageing for another 8 months before being put on the market.
Characterized by an intense ruby red colour, Doppiozeta has an overwhelming olfactory bouquet, with strong fruity and spicy notes. On the palate it is very full-bodied, soft and elegant.
Ideal as a wine to be served in combination with red meats and roasts, it is perfect in combination with stews rich in aromas and spices. Also excellent with aged cheeses.
