Description
The Morellino di Scansano Santa Maria di Frescobaldi was born in vineyards located on the hills of Grosseto, in Tuscany.
It is mainly produced with Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, fermented in stainless steel containers at a temperature below 30 ° C for 10 days, while the maceration continues for another 10 days. Following malolactic fermentation, the wine ages for 10 months in steel and for another 2 months in bottle.
Santa Maria has an intense and concentrated ruby red color, but still bright. The nose opens with fruity notes of wild strawberries and currants, which then leave room for citrus hints of bergamot and spicy nuances of cinnamon, anise and ginger. In the mouth it is harmonious and round, with a long and persistent finish and an aftertaste that recalls the spicy and citrus notes of the bouquet, enriched with flavors of licorice.
Perfect in combination with stewed meats, especially rabbit and chicken, it is perfect to accompany medium-aged cheeses.
