Description
Morellino di Scansano Riserva di Roccapesta was born in Maremma, in southern Tuscany. The first company vineyards were planted in the 1970s, while the new cellar dates back to 2010.
It is mainly made up of Sangiovese and Ciliegiolo grapes. The vinification takes place in thermo-controlled steel tanks, with maceration on the skins for 22-24 days. The wine subsequently ages in large French oak barrels for 18 months, followed by 18 months in the bottle.
Ruby red in colour, the nose expresses itself with aromas of rose and violet, red fruit, enriched with spicy notes and Mediterranean scrub. The sip is warm, with silky tannins and a persistent finish.
It pairs well with stewed meats, both red and game.
