Description
The Morellino di Scansano Riserva Calestaia di Roccapesta was born in Maremma, in southern Tuscany. The first company vineyards were planted in the 70s, while the new cellar dates back to 2010.
It is made up of 100% Sangiovese grapes from old vines. Vinification takes place in French oak truncated cone-shaped vats, with maceration on the skins for 22-24 days. The wine then ages in French oak barrels for 36 months, followed by 18 months in the bottle.
Ruby red in color with garnet reflections, the nose is expressed with aromas of red fruit, enriched by balsamic, spicy and earthy notes. The sip is warm and soft, with smooth tannins and a spicy finish.
It goes well with red meats and noble roast poultry such as duck or pheasant.
