Description

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC Centovie by Umani Ronchi is a red wine produced in the Abruzzo region. The grapes come from vineyards located in Roseto degli Abruzzi, with a planting density of 1,600 vines per hectare in the tent form and 5,000 vines per hectare in the row form. The vines are grown on clayey soils, sometimes sandy, with a good presence of skeleton, and benefit from a south-east exposure.

The winemaking involves manual harvesting of the grapes in the first ten days of October. The destemmed and lightly pressed grapes ferment at 27-29°C in steel tanks for 12-14 days. Subsequently, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in steel tanks and ages partly in large wood and partly in small wood for a period of 12-14 months. After bottling, it refines further in the bottle for approximately 6-8 months.

The wine has an intense ruby red color. On the nose, it offers aromas of ripe red fruit, with notes of spices and vanilla. On the palate, it is full-bodied and structured, with soft tannins and a persistent finish.

It pairs perfectly with red meat dishes, game and mature cheeses.
