Description
Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Rabdomante is a cru wine made from the most important red grape of Abruzzo, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. A milestone of modern Abruzzo winemaking, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is today one of the most valuable and well-known red grapes in the world: its origin is uncertain but very ancient, as evidenced by the writings of the Greek historian Polybius (206 BC - 124 BC), who praised its therapeutic virtues on the wounded and the ability to invigorate men, and the Roman poet Publio Ovidio Nasone (43 BC-17 or 18 AD) who often quoted him in his stories.
After the destemming, the maceration takes place in stainless steel vats for 15–20 days and the soft pressing of the grapes. Fermented in steel at a controlled temperature of 24-26 °C. Finally, it ages for 9/12 months in fine French and American barriques.
It satisfies the sight with its bright ruby red colour with garnet reflections, while the nose is enchanted by an intense and persistent perfume with notes of dried flowers, spices, licorice, morello cherries. On the palate it is elegant, velvety, almost juicy, with a well-defined tannic structure.
Opulent, majestic and enveloping, it is ideal for roasts, game, highly flavoured dishes and aged cheeses. Meditation wine.
