Description
Montefalco Sagrantino from the Mevante agricultural company is a prestigious red wine produced exclusively with Sagrantino grapes, grown in the vineyards located in the municipality of Bevagna, with a south-east exposure. The vineyards, which are about 20 years old, grow on a soil composed of clay alternating with marly-arenaceous formations, fluvio-lacustrine deposits and silt.
The harvest takes place manually starting from the last week of September, guaranteeing the selection of the best grapes. The winemaking process includes maceration on the skins followed by 24 months of aging in large French oak barrels and a further 12 months in the bottle.
This Montefalco Sagrantino has an intense ruby red color. On the nose, hints of plum jam, spices and balsamic notes emerge. On the palate it opens with great richness and a long and persistent finish reminiscent of liquorice.
This wine pairs perfectly with braised meat or game dishes.
