Description
Montecucco Rosso La Querciolina di Sassetti is born in Maremma from 100% Sangiovese grapes, on calcareous soils rich in clay. The grapes are harvested by hand at the end of September.
The fermentation of the grapes takes place in steel at a controlled temperature. The wine then ages for 18 months in oak barrels, then another 6 months in the bottle.
The wine is a deep ruby red, with purple reflections. On the nose there are aromas of ripe red fruit, spices and liquorice, while in the mouth the round sip reveals silky tannins and a long, pleasant persistence.
It is drunk in combination with tasty first courses and second courses of red meat or stewed game, from Acquacotta di Moggiona to Scottiglia Maremmana.
