Description
Ciarlone, as its name suggests, is a convivial and cheerful wine, made to bring joy to the table. It comes from the vineyards of Tenuta L'Impostino in the province of Grosseto, Tuscany.
It is a blend of 60% Sangiovese and the remaining 40% Merlot, Alicante and Petit Verdot. The 11 year old vines are located at an altitude of 350 metres in the village of Sughereta. After being carefully hand-picked, the grapes are taken to the cellar for a second sorting. Both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation take place in steel tanks. The wine matures in the same material, the wine ages in the presence of its fine lees for about 12 months. This is followed by a final period of about 6 months in the bottle.
It is ruby red in the glass. Its bouquet is articulated with fruity notes of sour cherry and floral notes of violet and iris. In the mouth, it has a well-defined body, softened by a velvety tannic texture. Fresh and persistent, both on the palate and in the finish.
To be paired with a plate of pici with meat sauce.
