Description
Banjoi is produced by the Rubiu winery, founded in 1890, located in the Tallorga plain, in the province of Carbonia-Iglesias.
The wine is made up of 100% Monica grapes, a typically Sardinian variety of red grape. The grapes are delicately destemmed and left to macerate for a short time. Subsequently it is softly pressed and the must obtained is clarified by decanting. It then ferments at a controlled temperature in thermo-controlled stainless steel tanks. The refinement always takes place in steel on the fine lees and has a duration of approx. 6 months, ending with 2 months in the bottle.
In the glass it is ruby red with coppery reflections. The nose expresses aromas of ripe fruit, blackberries and hints of dried fruit. In the mouth it shows an excellent body of good persistence.
It goes well with appetizers of cured meats and cheeses and with grilled or stewed red meats.
