Description
Joseph Drouhin’s Meursault is a white wine produced in the prestigious Côte des Blancs region of France. This wine is made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes, grown on variable soils that range from deep and colorful around the village, to lighter and lighter mid-hill, to almost white and very stony soils in the upper parts.
The winemaking follows rigorous traditional methods, with a supply from selected partner producers. The grapes are manually harvested in crates and subjected to a slow and gentle pressing of the whole bunches in a pneumatic press. The final pressing juices are separated from the top quality juices, which pass directly into barrels after settling. The alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, followed by the refinement, take place in oak barrels for a period of 14-16 months. The barrels used are made of oak wood from high quality French forests.
This wine has a bright golden color and offers a rich and complex aromatic bouquet. Notes of honey and hazelnut butter emerge on the nose, accompanied by hints of chamomile or hawthorn. On the palate it reveals a sensation of silky roundness, with a long persistence that recalls yellow plum and gingerbread.
This Meursault is ideal to pair with fish-based dishes, shellfish or white meats, enhancing the flavours and complexity of the wine.
