Description
Planeta is one of the most famous brands of Sicilian wine, which has always pursued the path of quality and valorisation of the region's excellence. The winery owns estates in various areas of the island: Capo Milazzo, Etna, Vittoria, Noto and Menfi. Chardonnay Didacus was born within the Tenuta di Menfi, created in the mid-80s around a traditional 16th century farmhouse. It is a wine dedicated to the founder of the Diego Planeta winery and represents one of the flagship labels of the range. The vineyards extend over an area of approximately 250 hectares, which rises from the coast to the first hilly hinterland. The different altitude, microclimate and soil compositions allow each vine to be grown in the most suitable area.
The Chardonnay vineyard was planted in 1985 on the shores of Lake Ulmo and produces excellent quality grapes, characterized by very rich aromas. The harvest is carried out manually and the best bunches are softly pressed. The must ferments in French oak barriques and before bottling, matures in wood for approximately 6 months.
In the glass it has a golden yellow color. The bouquet offers aromas of citrus peel, peach, aromas of tropical fruit, vanilla and soft spices. The sip is large, rich, long and persistent.
To pair with fish in sauce, white meats, semi-mature cheeses.
