Description
The Baron de Brane is a Grand vin de Margaux created by the Château Brane-Cantenac, already known for its good wine in the 1700s. Château Brane-Cantenac was purchased in 1833 by the Baron of Brane, nicknamed the "Napoleon of the vineyards". Its name comes from the surname of the baron and the name of the place where the vineyards were located, Cantenac. Today the company is owned by the Lurton family, who, since 2009, with skilful modifications have been able to produce ever better wines.
The wine is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Carménère. Vinification takes place in concrete and steel vats and in wooden barrels. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels (20-30% new) for 12 months.
In the glass the wine has an intense purplish red color. The aromas of currants and ripe cranberries are perceived on the nose, with notes of cedar and black pepper. The sip is full and silky, with an excellent structure and a long finish.
Ideal in combination with first courses with red meat sauces, roasted or stewed red meats and game and aged cheeses.
