Description
Château Margaux Premier Grand Cru Classé was born in vineyards located in the heart of the AOC Margaux, an area of excellence for Médoc wines, where the most prestigious wines of the famous Bordeaux wine region come to life. The Château Margaux was one of the first four premier cru to be included in the Official Classification of Bordeaux Wines of 1855. This classification system was wanted by the Emperor Napoleon III on the occasion of the Paris Universal Exposition, in order to make it more recognizable the best Bordeaux wines also outside the borders of France. The wines were ordered from the first to the fifth cru based on the reputation of the cellar and the price, which at the time was a factor directly related to quality. Together with the other premier cru Grand Classé it is considered a legend that made the history of wine.
It is mainly produced with Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and with Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes, harvested and selected entirely by hand. After traditional fermentation in red, the wine ages for 24 months in new oak barriques inside the cellar where there are optimal conditions of conservation for humidity and temperature.
This Margaux has a deep dark ruby red color. The nose opens with elegant hints of blackberry and black currant, enriched with persuasive spicy notes of licorice and tobacco. On the palate it is decisive and aristocratic, well acidic and tannic, with a great structure, capable of expressing an extraordinary refinement.
Perfect to accompany important red meat dishes and noble poultry, it is ideal in combination with game and very mature cheeses.
