Description

Château Lascombes owes its name to its first owner, Antoine, knight of Lascombes, who lived in the mid-1600s. After the war, Château Lascombes was in a state of decline, which was similar to other châteaus in the area. First Alexis Lichine, then the Colony Capitol company, invested heavily both in the care of the vineyards and in the cellar. The current owner, La Mutuelle insurance, purchased the château in 2011 for $300 million.

The winemaking takes place in a combination of steel and wooden vats, before moving on to refinement in French oak barrels (80% new wood) for 18 months.

In the glass the wine appears deep purple in color. On the nose there are hints of cassis, cherries and ripe blackberries in addition to notes of graphite, menthol, lavender and cedar peel. In the mouth the wine is muscular, structured in polite tannins and freshness, with a long, satisfying persistence.

Ideal in combination with pasta with mixed meat ragout, roasts and stewed wild boar. It is advisable to let the wine decant for at least 3 hours before serving it.
