Description
The Grand Vin 1er Cru Classé is a wine from Château Margaux, the prestigious French winery whose foundation dates back to at least the 12th century, when the palace was used as a royal residence. However, it was only in 1500 that the first vineyards were planted at Château Margaux by the de Lestonnac family. Over the centuries it changed hands between different families and the vineyards always maintain more or less the same size as they do today, of 80 hectares. Since the 1970s, the Château has been in the hands of the Mentzelopoulos family, who have rebuilt and renovated the cellar.
The Grand Vin 1er Cru Classé of Château Margaux is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The vinification takes place in both steel and wood, while the refinement takes place in new wooden barrels for 18-24 months, depending on the vintage.
The nose reveals a rich and multifaceted bouquet of aromas of violet and rose, blueberries and raspberries, with graphite and slightly smoky notes. The sip is vibrant and multifaceted, with very fine tannins and a brilliant acidity. Very long finish.
The Grand Vin 1er Cru Classé from Château Margaux is the ideal accompaniment to elaborate dishes of red meat and game.
